“INHERITING OUR FAITH”

Deuteronomy 6: 6-7

And these words that I command you today, will be on your heart; and you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

I always remember in a very special way when my mother decided to give her life to Jesus, one of the first things she did was take me to church with her, she made sure that I had a Bible and although at that moment she did not know much, each tomorrow I tuned in an evangelical station and before going to school I had already heard a good dose of the Word of God, each night we had our family altar; On the other hand, there was not a good reason to miss church, it was not stopped by rain, sun, or lack of money … in short, that marked my life.

Today I understand the great responsibility I have regarding my children and I know that I must fulfill the Word and follow my mother’s example; I must make sure that my children inherit my faith in the Lord.

It is very easy to pass that responsibility on to others and pretend to send our children to church but not go with them; Enroll them in a Christian school and forget to read the Bible at home. The first we must teach the Bible are the parents, the others are supportive. Our children need in us, parents, an example to follow.
