History

The Helen Luce Evangelical Educational Institution of the city of Juticalpa, Olancho was founded in the year of 1947 by the missionary and educator par excellence Miss Virginia Sapp, under the coverage of the World Evangelical Mission, the school was created under the name of “School Evangelical “with the purpose of announcing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and integrating students to impact the family and society.

It began to work in front of what were then the facilities of the Departmental Institute “La Fraternidad”, moving in 1961 to its own facilities in the El Centro neighborhood, now called Evangelical School “Helen Luce” in recognition of the person who donated the economic resources for the construction of the primary building. In 1964 it was its last year of operation due to economic problems that did not allow it to continue operating.

In its second stage the school emerged in 1983, driven by a group of leaders of the Central Evangelical Church of Holiness of Juticalpa under the coordination of Pastor Néstor Matute Turcios, person who with his delivery contributed to the development of the institution, declaring as values: God, Faith, Study and Discipline.

In 1994, the Common Cycle of General Culture began to operate, starting with a registration in the first course of 19 students, a decision that was taken as an act of faith, since it was not self-sustainable. This idea grew and it was in 1997 that the offer was extended to a Bachelor of Science and Letters and Commercial Education, in the interest of giving continuity to the spiritual and academic formation.

In 2009, bilingual education was promoted by Brother Carlos Avila, Executive Director of the ADIEEDS with the purpose of training bilingual professionals, based on values and biblical principles that contribute to the development of the community.

Currently, the bilingual teaching modality is offered from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade and the modality in Spanish from seventh to eleventh grade graduating from bachelors in science and humanities.

Providing Christ centered educational services with excellence is a permanent challenge for Helen Luce.
